Resumption of Training for Tourism Professionals in Rodrigues

Investing in training and capacity building in sustainability-related areas is an important consideration for tourism organisations, not just to improve their sustainability practices, but also to stay competitive.

Since November 2019, the programme “Professionalisation of the Rodrigues Tourism Industry through the training of the Local Tourism Operators” was launched with the support of the Tourism Authority under the SIM project. The core objective of the course was to deliver the basis knowledge of customer service, quality assurance and the concept of sustainable tourism. Around 600 operators have been fully trained over the past years.

SIM is pleased to announce the resumption of training courses in Rodrigues which will run from July to September 2022. Over 400 operators have been targeted to attend the 21-hour foundation course on tourism, and 3-hour course on principles of sustainable tourism.

The initiative is part of Rodrigues’ efforts to achieve Service Excellence at every touch point of the visitor’s journey, provide an unforgettable experience to the visitors, and most importantly to distinguish itself as an “Ile Creole Ecologique” (A Creole Ecotourism Paradise).
